What to Expect at the Grand CanyonWhat to Expect at the Grand Canyon

We all have heard about the Grand Canyon.   This iconic spot has become a popular destination for many tourists around the world because of its awe-inspiring beauty. The Grand Canyon is massive, spanning more than 1 million acres. You can imagine how magical and dramatic it can be to be here. So if you are planning to visit the Grand Canyon, here are a couple of things you can expect.

Where everything starts

Your Grand Canyon tour usually starts at the Visiting Center where the tour guides equip you with all information you need to make your tour one-of-a-kind. Although the Grand Canyon looks really “grand” on magazines and post cards, it is a high-altitude location. So expect it to be dizzying.

The South Ring Is the Best

A lot of travellers who visit the Grand Canyon come to the South Rim. This part of the Grand Canyon offers the most breathtaking views of the layering rocks, steep gorges and exceptional ridges. You can actually drive through the Desert View Drive to enjoy a scenic route. Passing through this 25-mile long road will give you the best view of the picnic areas and the Tusayan Ruin site and museum.

Saving time is simple

The Grand Canyon is massive and touring this site entirely is almost impossible especially if you are only here for a short time. So if you want to save time but still enjoy its great views, we suggest that you visit lesser known sites. Avoid the crowds of people and falling in a long line to take some photos. This will only take all your time. Why don’t you enjoy the view first? Visit here around January to February when the crowds are not too dense. The place tends to be full around October.

The shuttle is your best ride

Bringing your own car, of course, is the best way to tour around this area. It gives you the luxury of time and space – and a little privacy. But if you are here for only a day and want to see as many sites as you can, we suggest that you take the Grand Canyon shuttle bus.  This will save you time looking for a parking space. During peak seasons, the parking lots tend to be full by 9:00 o’clock in the morning. So if you decide to bring your car, you better arrive as early as you can to find a great parking space. Do note that the sunrise can be quite awesome in the Grand Canyon.
